How Our Employees Learn

Every employee starts at the beginning. This doesn't mean they all start in the same job description. However, we do require that every employee observe the other positions throughout their first couple weeks at the company. This ensures that those who think their coworkers "have it easy" can quickly realize the difficulty in their coworkers jobs. It also helps ensure that while every employee is important, the absence of one will not create a breakdown in our company's operations. Finally,  it also helps make sure that each and every person on our staff can answer all of your questions--or knows who to go to when they get stumped!
Youthscape also implements a system of circular teaching. Never is there someone who has reached their final level, though there may be some who pause at a level longer than others. The goal is to always be teaching your way out of your current job and into the next one so that your replacement can help innovate and bring new ideas to the table. Stagnation within the workplace will ultimately lead to a company's downfall--and we plan to be around for a good, long while!

How we all Learn

Teachers within Youthscape also need to be ready to learn from the taught. Wisdom may belong to the older, but that doesn't mean that the younger do not borrow it every now and then. When this happens, we desire that our leaders also demonstrate an openness to learn. Not only do we encourage this learning from below, but we also encourage learning from the resources around us. Some of those resources are listed to the right, in case you're looking to learn as well! Other favorites are available by clicking the button below.

Here are some places we like to learn from

Books--good, old fashioned books. This isn't a specific recommendation, but it's still a good one! IF you want a specific recommendation, well, here are a couple: Originals by Adam Grant & Start with Why by Simon Sinek.

Duolingo--find a language you want to learn, and learn it! Though not a good enough replacement for immersion, it can help you start on the basics and keep your second language fresh on the mind.

Podcasts--Daniel's favorite is called "How I Built This" which contains interviews with the entrepreneurs that started some of the world's best known companies.
